Job description
Hull College Technical Coach Engineering

37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

Salary: £26,139 per annum.

Annual Leave: 31 days per annum (excluding bank holidays and up to 3 additional discretionary days over the Christmas/New Year period).

As our Technical Coach Engineering, you will provide academic and technical training to students to support achievement within the technical qualification of their programme. Through classroom and workshop training you will aim to develop, improve, and consolidate learning.

The post holder will support the achievement of students through the development of practical and academic skills, including support for student learning activities in workshops, one‑to‑one and classroom situations; provide teaching support on projects and assignments set by teachers; provide high‑quality resource management including specialist equipment; monitor and support students on work experience.

Responsibilities
  • Work effectively with other staff and cross‑college colleagues as one team, respecting and valuing each other to deliver outstanding services to students.
  • Prepare training materials, equipment, and resources for student activities, including a rich tutorial programme.
  • Deliver high‑quality learning experiences that enable students to develop in their learning.
  • Improve the technical and academic skills of students.
  • Supervise and provide instruction to groups of students to develop their skills and knowledge in relation to the qualification.
  • Assess learning and measure student progress through a range of assessment methods.
  • Supervise and facilitate employability and enrichment activities for students.
  • Ensure that practical learning environments, equipment, machines, and plant comply with health and safety requirements, identifying necessary actions and reporting through line management.
  • Maintain individual student records to capture progress, including attendance and initial assessment.
  • Contribute to the onboarding of students such as interviewing, taster sessions, and attending open events as required.
  • Act always as an ambassador for the college through a professional approach to internal and external customers.
  • Actively comply with and contribute to the College’s policies and procedures, particularly Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Equal Opportunities, and Data Protection.
What we’re looking for
  • L2 in a relevant subject.
  • Hold or be willing to work towards a relevant L3 teaching qualification (e.g., PTLLS).
  • Recent and relevant experience of the subject specialism.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety policy/procedures.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and establish rapport with students and staff.
