Cobalt Recruitment is partnering with a leading commercial property owner to appoint a Technical Building Manager across two high-quality London commercial assets.
This is a newly created, client-side role combining technical services with broader facilities management, offering an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong engineering or technical FM foundation to move into a genuine Total FM position. You'll have significant autonomy across two boutique assets, taking ownership of building performance and occupier experience while developing within a highly regarded commercial property business.
The primary building is a multi-occupied, office-led asset with retail and flexible workspace, where you'll oversee both hard and soft services. A second nearby property operates through an established TFM provider, with your focus more on contractor and performance oversight. You'll be based from the company's nearby London office rather than permanently on-site, with regular access to both buildings and the opportunity to work from home one day per week.
We're particularly interested in someone with a technical or engineering background who now wants to broaden their career into full facilities management. You may currently be an Engineer, Engineering Manager, Technical Services Manager or technically focused Facilities Manager, ideally with a relevant trade or engineering qualification.
Commercial office experience is strongly preferred. More important than remaining hands-on technically is having a strong understanding of how buildings operate, including M&E systems, statutory compliance, H&S and contractor management. Experience within a highly service-led environment such as hospitality could also be relevant where the technical foundations are strong.
You'll also need to be comfortable moving beyond engineering into the customer-facing side of FM, communicating confidently with occupiers, managing soft services and taking responsibility for decisions without requiring constant direction.
For someone looking to move from technical services into broader Total FM, this offers an excellent stepping stone: genuine autonomy, varied operational responsibility and a clear opportunity to develop within a leading commercial property owner.
