Job description
Technical Author – MOD

Harrogate area, £38-40kpa

Excellent opportunity for ex-forces engineers to join a growing business in the Harrogate area producing high quality technical documentation used in the maintenance and operation of equipment supplied to the MOD.

The role would suit someone with a background in ILS, training or in a technical library environment with knowledge of military AESPs, BRs, Aps publications.

Responsibilities
  • Travel to customer sites to interpret and collate data to create a wide range of technical documentation for MOD equipment.
  • Collaborate with equipment manufacturers to create and revise technical documentation, such as operation, maintenance manuals, Illustrated Parts Catalogues, Supportability Engineering (ILS Elements), Safety Engineering and Training Media.
  • You will work closely with key stakeholders to plan, develop, and refine technical documentation and ensure all content is accurate, clear and user-friendly.
  • Ensure all documentation meets company standards and is delivered within agreed timeframes.
  • You will be required to undertake a full security check for this role.
Qualifications
  • Hold a relevant engineering qualification with knowledge in Mechanical or Electrical or Electronics engineering.
  • Have knowledge of technical publications, and ideally military technical publications including AESPs/BRs/APs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and confident user of MS office suite.
  • Capability to evaluate and appraise source technical information.
  • Confident communication skills able to consult with customers for information gathering.
  • Be able to understand, analyse and simplify complex technical data into a user friendly format.
  • Hold a full driver's licence.
  • Ideally come from and MOD, Forces, REME, Navy, Airforce or similar with experience in Integrated Logistics Support, training and / or technical library.
