Job summary

Kraken Technology Group Limited is seeking an experienced Technical Author (Manufacturing Execution System) to join our manufacturing team on a three-month contract. The role is hands-on, collaborating with Production, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality to capture manufacturing processes and produce clear, accurate digital work instructions within the MES, Visual Factory.

You will observe and document processes on the shop floor, create and maintain digital work instructions, incorporate

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Technical Author or similar role.
• Experience creating manufacturing work instructions or SOPs.
• Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
• Comfortable on the shop floor engaging with production teams.
• Proficient in photography and image editing.
• Experience with MES, ideally Visual Factory.
• Background in defence or aerospace or engineering environments.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are looking for experienced Technical Authors (Manufacturing Execution System) to join our manufacturing team on a three month contract. This is a hands on role working closely with Production, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality teams to capture manufacturing processes and create clear, accurate digital work instructions within our Manufacturing Execution System (Visual Factory).

Key responsibilities

• Observe and document manufacturing, assembly, inspection and test processes.
• Create and maintain digital work instructions within the MES platform.
• Capture and incorporate photographs and visual aids into technical documentation.
• Work closely with operators and subject matter experts to ensure content accuracy.
• Support the review and continuous improvement of manufacturing documentation.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Technical Author, Technical Writer, Manufacturing Engineer, or similar role.
• Experience creating manufacturing work instructions, SOPs or production documentation.
• Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.
• Comfortable working on the shop floor and engaging directly with production teams.
• Proficient in photography and image editing.
• Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), ideally Visual Factory.
• Background in defence, marine, aerospace, automotive or other engineering/manufacturing environments.
