  • Uphold Technical Integrity: Establish and maintain the Technical Requirements Baseline, ensuring that all designs are carefully aligned with works information, statutory obligations, and safety standards.
  • Champion Progressive Delivery: Lead the "first line of defence" by ensuring the project progressively delivers a self-certified product that is safe to build, operate, and maintain, while providing robust evidence for stakeholders.
  • Empower and Mentor Teams: Provide compassionate guidance and awareness training to design and construction teams, empowering them to navigate the technical lifecycle stages with confidence and clarity.

To excel in this role, we are looking for candidates with:

  • Academic & Professional Foundation: Holds a degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or a related field), with Chartered status (CEng/IMechE/ICE) being highly valued as a sign of professional dedication.
  • Major Project Expertise: Proven experience in major multi-disciplinary rail or infrastructure environments, with a deep understanding of the unique challenges found in high-speed railway projects.
  • Mastery of Assurance Processes: Proficient in design coordination and the management of complex assurance documentation, including verification and validation (V&V) matrices and stage-gate certifications.
  • Inclusive Leadership Style: Exceptional communication skills with a positive, collaborative approach and the ability to listen deeply to the needs of diverse, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Focused and Methodical: An enthusiastic team player with the confidence to make thoughtful decisions and a practical focus on harmonizing quality requirements with buildability.
