Job summary

BMI UK & Ireland is seeking a Technical and Design Specialist (Insulation and Flat Roofing) for a full-time, on-site role in Ely. You will prepare CAD drawings and technical designs, ensuring compliance with performance, safety, and regulatory requirements, while supporting internal teams and clients.

Day-to-day work involves collaboration with sales, engineering, and installation teams to optimize thermal performance, waterproofing, and constructability, and helping maintain design standards

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Technical Drawing and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) skills relevant to insulation and flat roofing solutions.
• Candidates should possess Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering knowledge applicable to building services and roofing system integration.
• Candidates should possess effective Communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and advising clients and partners.
• Candidates should possess an understanding of building physics, insulation performance, and waterproofing principles.
• Relevant technical qualification or degree in engineering, architecture, construction, or a related discipline is highly desirable.
• Experience in roofing, building envelope design, or construction detailing is beneficial.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to interpret technical standards, and proficiency with common design and office software are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical drawings and CAD designs for insulation and flat roofing systems, ensuring solutions meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical support to internal teams and external clients, interpreting project specifications, and advising on suitable BMI roofing products and systems.
