Technical Agronomy Advisor (Potatoes, Sugar beet, cereals and oilseed rape)

UK East & South - £28,800 - £36,000

The Job

We are recruiting for a Technical Agronomy Advisor to support the growth of an innovative agricultural business across the East and South of the UK. This is a highly field‑based role focused on working directly with growers, providing practical agronomic advice, supporting trials and demonstrations, and helping develop relationships with distributor partners. You will spend around 50–60% of your time on the road, working with farmers and agricultural businesses across the region. The role combines technical agronomy, farmer engagement, field trials and commercial market development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Visit farmers and provide practical agronomic advice, with a particular focus on potato production
  • Build and maintain a strong network of farmer relationships and identify new opportunities
  • Support distributors with technical advice, joint customer visits and farmer demonstrations
  • Coordinate and monitor field trials and on‑farm demonstrations
  • Collect and communicate trial results, farmer feedback and market intelligence
  • Attend agricultural events and field days to develop your network and represent the business
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and provide regular updates on activity and market development

The Candidate
  • Degree in Agronomy, Plant Science, Plant Pathology or a related agricultural discipline
  • Strong practical knowledge of potato production, ideally supported by direct grower or field‑based experience
  • Experience with sugar beet, cereals or oilseed rape would be advantageous
  • Good understanding of plant nutrition, crop production and fertiliser/biostimulant programmes
  • Confident communicator able to build trusted relationships with farmers and distributors
  • Organised, commercially aware and comfortable working independently in a highly field‑based role
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across the region
