Contract Type:

About the Role

The Education Network is recruiting for a dedicated and experienced Team Teach Trained SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our welcoming partner schools in Bradford. This is an excellent opportunity to support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and complex behavioural challenges. As a Team Teach trained professional, you will play a key role in ensuring that pupils feel supported, safe, and valued. You must be able to maintain the safety and dignity of individuals under your care while complying with regulatory standards and implementing best practice in behaviour support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils on a one-to-one and small group basis, promoting engagement, inclusion, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Use prevention and de‑escalation measures to manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively.
  • Apply supportive holding and positive handling techniques where appropriate — typically when a child is causing or at risk of causing physical harm to themselves or others, and de‑escalation techniques have not averted the behaviour.
  • Use a range of strategies, including verbal and non‑verbal techniques, to support individuals with challenging behaviours.
  • Foster a supportive environment in school settings, encouraging positive interactions, respect, and personal growth.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCo, and pastoral teams to implement individual support and behaviour plans.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to ongoing assessments and reviews of pupil progress.
Requirements
  • Valid Team Teach Certificate (essential).
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN (particularly SEMH and ASC).
  • A calm, empathetic, and professional approach to behaviour management.
  • Understanding of positive handling, de‑escalation, and regulatory safeguarding standards.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
What The Education Network Offers
  • A dedicated local consultant who understands your experience and goals.
  • Access to ongoing CPD and SEN‑specific training.
  • Competitive daily rates and weekly pay.
  • Opportunities for long‑term and permanent positions within supportive school environments.
How to Apply

If you are a Team Teach Trained SEN Teaching Assistant who is passionate about making a difference and committed to maintaining safety, dignity, and positive outcomes for pupils, we would love to hear from you.
