Job summary

A children's social services organization is seeking a dynamic Team Manager to lead their Thriving Families service. The role involves overseeing a multi-agency team providing trauma-informed support to families at risk. Candidates should have a Social Work qualification and experience in managing teams within children's services. This full-time position (37 hours/week) offers a competitive salary and the chance to make a significant difference in family lives. Interviews are scheduled for January 15th and 19th, 2025.

Band I SCP 44 – 47 (£55,609 - £59,027 per annum) dependent on experience

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Team Manager to lead our Thriving Families service within Sandwell Children’s Trust. This innovative programme provides specialist, trauma-informed support to expectant and new parents at risk of child removal, with the aim of keeping families together wherever safe and appropriate.

As Team Manager, you will provide high-quality operational and strategic leadership to a multi-disciplinary team, including social workers, health professionals, psychologists, and family support practitioners. You will ensure integrated working, consistently high standards of practice, and alignment with Sandwell’s strategic aim to reduce the risks to unborn babies entering care thereby avoiding separation from the care of their parent/s once born.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a multi-agency team delivering bespoke, wraparound support to families.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring timely allocation of cases and effective safeguarding.
  • Drive trauma-informed, relationship-based practice and embed therapeutic interventions.
  • Facilitate multi-agency panels and allocation meetings.
  • Monitor service impact and performance against agreed indicators.
  • Promote the Thriving Families programme across the partnership and contribute to strategic development.
  • Manage budgets, recruitment, supervision, and staff development.
About You

We are looking for an innovative and motivational leader who can inspire teams and deliver outstanding outcomes for children and families.

You will have:

  • Social Work qualification and Social Work England registration.
  • Proven experience managing multi-agency teams within children’s services.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, child development, and trauma-informed practice.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and travel across the borough.
