About The Role

We're seeking a proactive and knowledgeable professional to lead a small team ensuring the safety of our housing tenants and leaseholders. You’ll oversee compliance in key areas including fire, gas, electrical, asbestos, lift safety, and water hygiene. The role involves promoting safety awareness, conducting risk assessments and site audits, monitoring CDM compliance, and fostering a strong health and safety culture across our services. If you’re passionate about making homes safer and have a strong background in compliance and risk management, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Corporate Ensure our customer service and delivery is excellent and continually improves.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that the Councils decisions and policies are implemented.
  • Uphold the Council's governance mechanisms, ensuring appropriate standards of performance, operational effectiveness, probity, safeguarding, risk management, safety, equality, and open government are maintained.
Compliance
  • Maintain our compliance database to ensure the information is up to date and accurate. Continually challenge the data integrity to ensure we have true assessment of compliance.
  • Provide reports on our compliance in the Big Six areas and delivery of recommended actions and cyclical tasks. Take corrective action on any areas of underperformance.
  • Procure and manage contracts for risk assessments and remedial actions as appropriate.
About You

We're looking for someone who: Provide essential skill/experience, Personal qualities or values. You're a confident and collaborative professional with a strong understanding of health and safety compliance, particularly within housing or property services. You bring experience in managing or supporting teams and are comfortable leading audits, risk assessments, and promoting a safety-first culture across diverse stakeholders. You'll have working knowledge of the Big Six compliance areas fire, gas, electrical, asbestos, lift safety, and water hygiene and be familiar with CDM regulations. You communicate effectively with tenants, leaseholders, contractors, and colleagues, and are passionate about creating safer homes.

Essential Qualifications And Certifications
  • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent)
  • BOHS P402 Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings
  • BOHS P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • Strong understanding of CDM 2015 Regulations and their application in housing and construction environments.
