About the role

Pertemps Social Care is working with our client to recruit an experienced Locum Team Manager for one of their Children’s Duty & Assessment Team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a high-performing frontline team in a fast-paced environment, where you’ll make crucial decisions to safeguard and support children and families. You’ll be responsible for managing and developing a team of social workers handling new referrals, Section 47 enquiries, and child in need assessments — ensuring timely and effective interventions that make a real difference.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of social workers in a busy duty and assessment service.
  • Oversee decision‑making on referrals and child protection enquiries.
  • Ensure high‑quality assessments, effective case direction, and compliance with statutory duties.
  • Provide reflective supervision, guidance, and performance oversight.
  • Work closely with partner agencies to deliver strong multi‑agency safeguarding practice.
  • Support service development and quality improvement initiatives.
What you need
  • A degree in Social Work or equivalent
  • Registered with Social Work England
  • At least 3 yearsPQE direct employmentwithinEnglish Local Authorities
