Team Manager – Children in Care Team

BCP Council is launching a refreshed Pay and Reward package from 1 December 2025. The new base salary band for this role is £52,413 – £60,357 (pro‑rata for part‑time colleagues). All new starters will begin at the bottom of the band, reflecting our commitment to equity. The role will also offer an additional recruitment and retention supplement of up to £7,200 per annum, at the discretion of the Council.

We seek an experienced Team Manager from within Children Social Care or an aspiring senior Social Worker with management and supervisory experience to lead our Children in Care teams. The role is central to our vision for children, young people and families across Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and supporting staff to deliver high‑quality social work services for children and families.
  • Embedding a systemic, child‑led practice approach across all teams.
  • Building effective relationships with statutory partners and local agencies.
  • Demonstrating strong assessment, analytical and strategic skills as part of the senior management team.
  • Championing continuous improvement and safeguarding best practice within the workforce.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Registered Social Worker with Social Work England.
  • Significant post‑qualifying experience working with children and families in the statutory sector.
  • Demonstrable management and supervisory experience.
  • Strong commitment to systemic practice and inclusion of children’s voices.
