How does this role contribute to our collective success?

As a Team Leader in Operations, you will be responsible for supervising a team of Underwriting Assistants to deliver high-quality, efficient, and compliant operational services. You will play a key role in driving performance, maintaining a collaborative team culture and ensuring alignment with underwriting and business objectives. The role focuses on day-to-day oversight, workload balancing, and supporting team development.

What will you do in this role?
  • Coach and develop a team of Underwriting Assistants and provide day-to-day guidance, support onboarding, and assist in developing team capability.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews and support career development.

  • Uphold a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and promote adherence to processes and encourage team collaboration.

  • Oversee day-to-day operational activities timely and accurate processing. Providing surge support during month-end, peak times and covering absence.

  • Monitor service levels and KPIs, identifying and resolving bottlenecks.

  • Recommend improvements and support implementation of best practices and process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.

  • Act as a key liaison between underwriting teams and internal departments.

  • Work with underwriters on transfer of Operational tasks.

  • Ensure clear communication and alignment across teams.

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and audit standards.

  • Leverage underwriting systems and manage workflow and reporting.

  • Contribute to system enhancements and user training.

  • Design, coordinate, and deliver training and development initiatives for Underwriting Assistants, while also supporting capability building across the wider Operations team

You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.
