Job description

The Targeted Team provides specialist mental health assessment, intervention and care coordination for children and young people presenting with moderate to severe mental health difficulties which cannot be effectively managed within universal or lower-intensity services. The Team Leader is responsible for the operational management, leadership and clinical oversight of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality care in line with Trust objectives, national guidance and local service specifications. The post holder will lead service development, workforce planning, performance management and governance activities, whilst promoting positive outcomes for children, young people and their families. They will work collaboratively with internal and external partners across health, social care, education and voluntary sector services to ensure integrated care pathways and timely access to appropriate support.

Main Responsibilities

Provide operational, clinical and professional leadership to the CAMHS Targeted Team, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, recovery-focused and evidence-based care for children, young people and families. Maintain oversight of assessments, care planning, risk management, safeguarding and clinical decision-making, ensuring compliance with Trust policies, professional standards.

Lead, supervise and support a multidisciplinary workforce through recruitment, induction, appraisal, performance management, workforce planning and staff development. Promote staff wellbeing, monitor training compliance and maintain safe staffing levels.

Manage service performance through effective monitoring of activity, waiting times, outcomes, quality standards and governance requirements. Lead audits, investigations, service reviews and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring lessons learned are embedded into practice.

Develop effective partnerships with health, social care, education and voluntary sector colleagues to support integrated care pathways and positive outcomes. Contribute to service development, transformation programmes, business planning and implementation of best practice.

Ensure effective communication with service users, carers, staff and partner agencies. Manage resources responsibly, support value for money and maintain accurate records, data collection and reporting to support safe, high-quality service delivery.
