Residential Team Leader – Children's Learning Disabilities Service

Dudley • £14.99 per hour • Full‑Time, Permanent

Claire at Amber Mace is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a leading care provider for an exciting new Residential Team Leader opportunity at a brand‑new Children's Learning Disabilities Service based in Dudley.

This is a fantastic chance to join a newly opened 8‑bedded service that provides exceptional care and support to children and young people aged 3‑18 with a range of learning disabilities, physical disabilities, complex health needs, and emotional or behavioural challenges.

If you are an experienced Senior Support Worker or Team Leader with a passion for making a difference, this is a brilliant opportunity to take the next step in your career and help shape a service that truly changes lives.

The Role
  • Support the Manager and Deputy Manager in achieving the aims and objectives of the service.
  • Lead and manage shifts, ensuring staff are supported and the needs of children are met at all times.
  • Plan rotas and daily activities, ensuring appointments, routines, and delegated duties are well organised.
  • Administer, order, and audit medication in line with care plans and policies.
  • Undertake training to communicate effectively with non‑verbal children, using Makaton, PECS, Smart Box, or other tools.
  • Support children with physical, emotional, behavioural, and educational needs, including specific health and medication requirements (e.g. PEG feeding, rescue meds).
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting inclusion, independence, and community participation.
  • Ensure a safe, nurturing environment where children are supported to reach their full potential.
About You
  • Experience working with children or young people with learning disabilities or complex needs.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team within a care setting.
  • Understanding of child development and behavioural support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and report‑writing skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and compassionate approach to care.
  • A full UK driving licence (preferred but not essential).
