An educational institution in Kingston upon Thames seeks a Team Leader – English. This role involves overseeing teaching staff and ensuring high curriculum standards for GCSE and Functional Skills English. The English, Maths and Employability Team has been established at Kingston College to enable all GCSE’s and Functional Skills to be taught in a single department. We’re now seeking a Team Leader – English to be responsible for the staff and curriculum standards within the Team.
You’ll monitor academic staff who teach English qualifications and ensure the quality of teaching delivered to students studying GCSE English and Functional Skills English is of the highest standard and meets the needs, standards, and requirements of all partners, including awarding bodies, employers, and higher education institutions.
You’ll have experience of successfully monitoring and supporting ‘at-risk’ learners to achieve or exceed their potential with a strong vision for the improvement and development of the curriculum area and current knowledge of impending curriculum changes and the implications for teaching and learning strategies.
We’d like our Team Leader to have excellent current teaching skills in at least one English qualification taught within the 6th form and be recognised as a good or better teacher. You’ll have experience of leading/managing A Level English, GCSE English and/or Functional Skills English and have a track record of making sustained improvements. With a thorough understanding of quality assurance and improvement processes and how these can be used to enhance the student experience, you’ll have experience of managing, supporting and developing staff.
You’ll be receptive to new ideas and initiatives with a creative approach to problem solving with high personal standards and expectations.
