Team Leader – Children’s Residential Care – Starting from £33,325

As a Team Leader at our 6‑bedded Children’s residential service in the heart of a residential community in Aldridge, you will be caring for children and young people with moderate to severe learning disabilities and/or physical disabilities, and may also have diagnoses of EBD, Autism, ADHD, sensory impairment, and associated behavioural challenges and/or complex care needs.

Children accommodated may also be experiencing mental health, self‑harm, and are socially and emotionally delayed due to neglect and harm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the management team in maintaining a safe and enabling environment that provides positive experiences to children and young people.
  • Lead shifts and supervise staff whilst still providing direct support to the young people in your care.
  • Work shift‑based full‑time (40 hrs per week), including weekends and approximately one sleep‑in shift per week.
  • Maintain compliance with children’s homes regulations and care plans.
Qualifications (Required)
  • Level 3 NVQ/Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent in Children’s Residential Care.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience within a residential setting.
  • Drive a full and valid driving licence (if transporting children to and from school/community).
  • Experience of supervising staff and competent in IT.
Experience and Skills
  • Strong values, self‑motivated, good people skills, and experience in a children’s residential care or similar environment.
  • Working knowledge of, following, and working to Care Plans.
  • Experience of shift‑leading, delegating tasks, providing support and undertaking staff supervisions.
  • Ability to work effectively during high‑pressure situations.
  • Knowledge of children’s homes regulations and working with children with complex learning difficulties.

Salary and Hours

Starting salary of £31,824 (salary based on qualifying competency‑based criteria), plus sleep‑in paid at £62.55 per sleep (approx. one per week) and the opportunity to increase earnings through overtime.
