Qualifications

  • Must have a strong engineering background (mechanical and/or electrical).
  • Experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment is required.
  • Previous leadership experience, either formal or informal.

Overview

You’ll be the go‑to person for all things engineering on nights, running the shift, supporting your team, and ensuring production keeps moving. This is a hands‑on, fast‑paced role that offers the variety you need to enjoy problem‑solving, leading by example, and driving standards forward.

What you’ll be doing
  • Lead the night engineering team – setting the pace and owning performance
  • Manage priorities and coordinate breakdown response
  • Ensure planned maintenance is completed effectively
  • Support your team with technical guidance and coaching
  • Participate in RCA, CI projects, and asset care improvements
  • Drive a strong safety‑first culture across all engineering activity
  • Communicate clearly with day teams and other departments
  • Own shift reports, CMMS updates, and stock‑control disciplines
What you’ll need
  • Time‑served or formally qualified (NVQ Level 3 / HNC or equivalent)
  • Strong engineering background – mechanical and/or electrical
  • Experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment
  • Previous leadership experience – formal or informal
  • Calm, confident decision‑making under pressure
  • Strong communicator who can get the best out of others
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused approach to people, kit and process
  • Sound knowledge of compliance: PUWER, LOLER, & health & safety standards
Working Hours

4 on 4 off nights, 6 pm‑6 am. Location: March, Cambridgeshire.
