Qualifications

Responsibilities

Overview

Mitie has a great opportunity for Security Officers to join our business at an exciting time.

Job Type: Permanent

Rate of pay: £19.19 Per Hour

Hours of work: 50 Hours per week (Monday - Friday)

Main Duties

To proactively demonstrate and work to the Company's values, act as an ambassador for Mitie Security and the client always.

Primary attributes
  • Ability to be screened to SC Level - or have a current SC clearance
  • Either sole or dual British nationality to comply with the client\'s IPSA accreditation (compulsory)
  • Dual nationality will be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Physically fit - A competency-based assessment is a compulsory requirement for this role and must be completed by all officers
  • SIA Security Guard OR Door Supervisor OR Close Protection license holder (CP preferred but not mandatory)
  • Remains calm under pressure
  • Ability to deal with and control an emergency
  • Is a team player and works with colleagues to ensure high levels of protection are always delivered
  • Is trustworthy & reliable
  • Maintains good time keeping

Preferred attributes
  • Holder of a 3-Day HSE first aid certificate (minimum 1 day, applicant must be able to supply a certificate) (preferred)
  • Has held a previous supervisory position within a similar high-profile blue-chip client environment. (preferred)
  • Previous experience as a Security Officer working in a high-profile blue-chip client environment. (preferred)
  • Holder of full UK Driving Licence (preferable)
  • Proficient in written and oral communication skills and IT literate/ competent
  • Knowledge of and ability to use computer systems
  • Microsoft Word - Intermediate
  • Microsoft Excel - Intermediate
  • Hold a full UK Driving Licence (preferable). A need to visit other client sites is required.
Managerial requirements
  • Leading the Site Protection Team in all matters, reporting to senior security management
  • Support and implement customer corporate policies
  • Manage security and emergency incidents
  • Ensure that the correct security systems and procedures are used appropriately
  • Engage in effective communication with the client, Mitie Operations Manager, and National Security Coordinator, and other stakeholders as required
  • Manage the staff on site to ensure that the operational delivery of the service is maintained to a high standard and to the complete satisfaction of the client
  • Take responsibility for the team\'s personal and professional development, by engaging with the appropriate Mitie stakeholders to arrange team training and personal development planning
  • Where required, the TL will conduct and contribute to investigations, writing respective reports for the client and Mitie operational management
  • Lead the implementation of customer corporate policies and codes of practice
  • Constantly assess the risks to the client and company stakeholders, taking appropriate mitigation measures
  • Regularly audit administrative, health and safety and quality procedures
  • Provide support to staff who have welfare requirements
  • Support the vetting process to ensure that all site protection officers assigned to you comply with BS7858 and SC clearance requirements
  • Take detailed notes of all disciplinary actions taken against employees, making sure that such matters are first referred Mitie operational management and HR
Training and development
  • In conjunction with the Mitie Management team, monitor the performance of SPOs, conduct annual appraisals in line with company policy, and develop personal development plan for all team members
  • Make sure that all security officers are aware of the latest training initiatives and are given the opportunity for both personal and professional development
  • Support site training and exercising activities where required
