Qualifications

Acorn Homes is a provider of residential care homes for vulnerable children. We currently have multiple homes that have been rated Outstanding by Ofsted and are adding more homes to the Acorn family. Acorn Homes are looking for the right Team Leader to join our home in Canterbury. The ideal Team Leader will have experience working in a children's home and will be looking for the next step in their career. The ability to develop staff to their full potential, strong communication skills, good decision making, and the ability to work with initiative are important.

Acorn Homes is offering its Team Leaders £33,280 per annum (£14.00 per hour, including 2 sleep shifts per week, £40 per sleep).

Purpose Of The Role

A Team Leader is responsible for supervising a team of support staff to ensure that young people receive a complete person-centred care service. As an excellent role model, they will lead, delegate, supervise and assess the practice of Support Workers. There is an expectation to provide direct high-quality care and support to young people.

Responsibilities
  • The ability to organise, plan and take responsibility.
  • The ability to lead shifts, make decisions, and follow policies and procedures in line with current legislation.
  • Manage and take direct responsibility for staff performance, training and support.
  • Offer support and guidance during On-Call duties.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues and children, verbally and in writing.
  • Work in line with young people's care plans and health plans.
  • Motivate, aid and guide children in their self-development.
  • Set appropriate examples for children at all times.
  • Listen and respond responsibly with sensitivity.
  • Undertake supervision of staff.
  • React calmly in stressful situations.
  • Maintain administrative records as required by the organisation.

Essential Requirements
  • Two years experience working in a Children's Home
  • Hold or be willing to achieve a Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care with Children and Young People
  • Be prepared to work early, late and night shifts (including sleepovers) on a rota basis
  • Be over the age of 21 (employer has claimed an exemption under the Equality Act 2010)
Desirable Requirements
  • Hold a full UK driving license
