Job summary

Job description
Overview

An exciting clinical leadership role in the Hillingdon Adult Speech and Language Therapy service, providing specialist interventions across domiciliary, outpatient and Intermediate Care units.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership to the team, delivering specialist speech and language therapy interventions.
  • Support teams to clinically advance and deliver evidence‑based interventions through direct care, supervision, training and education.
  • Work autonomously within professional guidelines, using research skills for audit and service development.
  • Collaborate with the Service Manager to develop adult community services, managing staff, caseloads, treatment pathways and performance indicators.
  • Lead service transformation in line with the NHS Long Term Plan, co‑producing and supporting pathway evolution.
  • Coordinate quality and clinical governance frameworks, ensuring high standards of care.
  • Provide leadership support to clinical and non‑clinical workforce, managing organisational performance, embedding Trust values and managing the operating budget.
  • Develop and deliver training programmes to multidisciplinary groups and external stakeholders, including GPs.
  • Support and encourage reflective practice, identifying learning needs in speech & language therapy and other AHPs.
  • Maintain personal development plans and participate in annual appraisals.
  • Ensure policies, procedures, clinical governance arrangements are in place and well communicated.
  • Operate independently, interpreting national and Trust policies, advising the Clinical Service Manager and Head of Adult Services.

  • Qualified and registered Professional with extensive postgraduate experience working with adults, providing patient‑centred care and leading a team.
