Job summary

The University of Edinburgh invites applications for the role of Technical Manager (teaching) in the School of Engineering. This full-time, on-campus position leads a team of Teaching Technicians and ensures safe, efficient operation of teaching laboratories across multiple disciplines.

You will work closely with the Technical Services Manager to deliver high-quality laboratory teaching, maintain compliance with health and safety policies, and create a supportive environment for undergraduate

Qualifications

• Line management responsibility for Teaching Technicians.
• Excellent health and safety awareness and familiarity with risk assessments and COSHH.
• Deliver a safe and efficient working environment across their area.
• Experience supporting teaching laboratories across multiple engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a safe and efficient working environment across their area of responsibility.
• Provide line management support for Teaching Technicians.
• Design and deliver workshop and laboratory-based teaching.
• Ensure compliance with policies and legislation.
• Oversee seven dedicated teaching laboratories and associated spaces.
