A prestigious UK university in Cambridge is seeking a full-time Teaching Associate in the Sociology of Postcolonial India. You will be responsible for teaching, supervising undergraduate papers, and supporting admissions within the Sociology Department. Candidates must possess relevant teaching experience and a PhD or equivalent qualifications. This fixed-term role ends on July 31, 2029, offering an annual salary between £35,608 and £46,049, along with opportunities to contribute to a vibrant academic environment.

We are looking to recruit a full time Teaching Associate in the Sociology of Postcolonial India from 1 May 2026 or as soon after as possible to provide teaching in the Department of Sociology at the University of Cambridge for a fixed term until 31 July 2029.
The role holder's duties will be:
General duties will include teaching, which in Cambridge includes supervision of students; course development and innovation, and examining. Teaching administration may include support of paper management and admissions work. The Teaching Associate will be expected to support and maintain the Department's and University's national and international reputation for excellence in teaching.
You will have relevant teaching experience, educated to degree level, normally with a PhD in a relevant field or equivalent demonstrable experience and/or a teaching qualification as appropriate, and be able to demonstrate active, collegial engagement in research, teaching and outreach in the Sociology of Postcolonial India. You will be an engaging and confident teacher at undergraduate and postgraduate level, or looking to develop postgraduate teaching skills.
The Department of Sociology is part of a joint undergraduate degree programme in Human, Social and Political Sciences (HSPS) and also has a vibrant MPhil and PhD programme. There are currently about 80 students working on PhDs on a diverse range of topics in sociology.
