The role involves managing resources, covering classes under supervision, and assisting with lunchtime duties. Candidates should have experience with KS1 and KS2, possess strong literacy and mathematical skills, and be adaptable. This position offers competitive salaries, additional training days, and a supportive environment for professional growth.
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Teaching Assistant on a permanent basis. This role will involve helping to implement work programmes for groups of children, assisting in the management and preparation of resources, providing cover for whole classes under a system of supervision for 30% of the employed time throughout the school year, and daily lunchtime support.
Ark Blacklands Primary Academy is a popular and oversubscribed primary school at the heart of Hastings, located near the 109‑acre Alexandra Park. We recently celebrated winning the East Sussex Healthy Schools Excellence Award and have a proven track record of raising standards for our pupils, particularly the most vulnerable.
As Hastings is an ‘Opportunity Area’, the academy is pivotal in ensuring our children get the best start in life, no matter what their background. We are a large school with a new intake each year of three forms, with 90 pupils in each year group from reception through to year six.
Ark is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in its academies. In order to meet this responsibility, Ark requires all employees to undertake an enhanced DBS check. You are required, before appointment, to disclose any unspent conviction, cautions, reprimands or warnings under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Non‑disclosure may lead to termination of employment. Disclosure of a criminal background will not necessarily debar you from employment – this will depend upon the nature of the offence(s) and when they occurred.
Please note we will be reviewing applications on an on‑going basis and this role may close earlier than advertised depending on the level of response. We strongly encourage you to submit your application at your earliest convenience.
