Our students, who have been removed from mainstream schools, require a highly individualized approach to learning and personal development. Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting the class teacher in delivering lessons, providing individual or small‑group support to students with a range of SEN needs, particularly those with behavioural and emotional difficulties.
  • Supporting the implementation of positive behaviour management strategies, ensuring a calm and focused learning environment for all students.
  • Helping to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and specific learning strategies tailored to the needs of each student.
  • Encouraging students to engage in their learning and promoting social, emotional and behavioural development both in and outside the classroom.
  • Observing and recording students' progress, providing feedback to teachers, and contributing to reviews of student development.
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to ensure consistent and high‑quality support for each student.
  • Building positive relationships with students, parents, and carers, providing regular updates on student progress and wellbeing.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly those with behavioural and emotional difficulties.
  • A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach, with the ability to adapt to students' individual needs.
  • A solid understanding of effective behaviour management techniques and the ability to implement them consistently.
  • Excellent communication skills, both with students and adults, including teachers, parents and colleagues.
  • A positive attitude, resilience, and the ability to motivate and engage students in their learning.
  • An understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to creating a safe, supportive environment for all students.
  • (Desirable) Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or other relevant training/experience in SEN.
