Location: Lewisham

Start: Immediate start

Contract: Full-time, long-term (temp-to-perm opportunity)

Salary: £100 to £120 per day (depending on experience)

Are you passionate about supporting young people who need a fresh start in education? Do you have strong behaviour management skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure? We are working with a Secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) seeking a confident and proactive Teaching Assistant to join their team. The school supports students aged 11-16 who have faced barriers in mainstream education and benefit from smaller class sizes and tailored support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students during lessons, promoting positive engagement and behaviour.
  • Build trusted relationships with pupils, acting as a positive role model.
  • De-escalate challenging behaviour using restorative and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Work closely with teachers, behaviour leads, and external agencies.
  • Assist with academic work and social development on both a 1:1 and small-group basis.
What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience working in a PRU, SEMH, or behaviour-focused setting (essential).
  • Strong behaviour management skills and ability to remain calm and consistent.
  • Resilience, patience, and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply).
