Job description

With a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent): | £16,815.19 – £17,397.13 per annum

Without a Level 3 qualification: | £16,815.19 per annum

We're looking for a teaching assistant to join our team and help every child access learning, build confidence, and achieve their potential.

You’ll work in partnership with teachers to support students in the classroom and through small group interventions. You’ll help develop students’ independence, self-esteem and social inclusion while making sure they can access the curriculum and experience real achievement.

This is a vital role. You’ll work with students who have diverse learning needs, including those with SEND, and help create a safe and stimulating learning environment where every child can thrive.

If you’re ambitious about your own development, we offer genuine career progression. You can work towards a Level 3 or Level 5 teaching assistant apprenticeship, or even join our Initial Teacher Training programme.

Key responsibilities

You will:

  • develop an understanding of students’ learning needs, including specific SEND needs, and support their access to lesson content;
  • work in partnership with teachers to plan and assess high quality lessons;
  • support individual students and small groups through targeted interventions;
  • build positive relationships with students and consistently apply our behaviour policy;
  • collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral staff, the SENDCO and parents to support learning; and
  • contribute to the wider school community through completion of school related duties.
What we’re looking for

You’ll need:

  • GCSE maths and English (grade 4 or above) or equivalent, or willingness to work towards functional skills qualifications;
  • good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • patience, empathy and a calm approach when working with students;
  • resilience when faced with challenging situations;
  • a willingness to learn about child development and how to use IT to support learning; and
  • a commitment to equality and safeguarding.

We’d love to hear from you if you have experience working in a school or with young people, or a Level 3 teaching assistant qualification. But if you don’t, that’s okay. If you work 20 hours or more per week with us, we’ll enrol you onto our Level 3 Initial Teaching Assistant Training programme.

Could this be the role where you make a real difference to young people’s lives?
