SEN Learning Support Assistant (Primary EYFS focus)

Fixed Term 31.25 hours per week, term-time only. Immediate or upcoming start. We’re looking for a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child in the Early Years Foundation Stage. This is a wonderful opportunity to join a welcoming primary school community that values nurture, inclusion, and the joy of learning.

Working closely with the class teacher, you’ll help create a supportive and stimulating environment where every child can access learning at their own pace. From developing communication skills to supporting emotional regulation and encouraging independence, your work will play a key role in helping each child thrive both in and beyond the classroom.

What We’re Looking For
  • Experience working with children in EYFS or Key Stage 1 (school or childcare settings)
  • A patient, compassionate approach to supporting pupils with additional needs
  • An understanding of how to adapt activities and resources to meet individual learning goals
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to follow guidance and collaborate with teaching staff
  • A positive outlook, sense of humour, and genuine care for children’s wellbeing and progress
Role Requirements
  • Experience supporting children with SEND (for example, autism, speech and language delay, or social and emotional needs)
  • Knowledge of the EYFS curriculum and early learning approaches
  • Familiarity with phonics (Read Write Inc. or similar) and early literacy support
  • Experience using or willingness to learn alternative communication systems (e.g. Makaton, PECS)
  • Relevant qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (Level 2/3) or equivalent experience
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
