Teaching Assistant – Specialist PMLD & Autism Provision (North Tyneside)

Full-Time | Term-Time Only | September Start | PAYE

We’re working with a specialist setting in North Tyneside that supports children and young people aged 3–19 with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), autism, and complex needs. The school delivers a rich, communication-led curriculum through creativity, sensory learning, and life-skills development.

This is a team that believes learning should be personal, meaningful, and full of joy—tailored to each pupil’s unique potential.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Supporting learning across small, highly staffed classes with a creative, multisensory curriculum
  • Assisting with personal care, mobility, and therapeutic routines (training provided)
  • Using communication systems such as Makaton, PECS, eye gaze, switches, and tactile symbols
  • Contributing to themed learning programmes like Magic Carpet Ride and Into the Forest
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and self-expression through structured routines and play
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to provide holistic, child-centred care
