Job summary

Byerley Park Primary School invites applications for a part-time Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a busy, inclusive environment. 26.25 hours per week, 09:00–15:30 with a lunchbreak, term time plus 10 days. The role requires SEND experience and a Level 2 TA qualification, with GCSEs in English and Maths at grade C or above.

The successful candidate will join a friendly school community with a supportive leadership team and a commitment to safeguarding and inclusion.

Qualifications

  • Must have a Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) and GCSEs in English and Maths at grade C or above.
  • Applicants must meet the approved ‘full and relevant’ criteria for Early Years staffing ratios.
  • Experience with SEND and ability to work 1:1 and in groups is required.

Job Type: Part Time

Temporary contract until funding stops or pupil leaves school. Part Time 26.25 hours per week- Daily working hours between 09:00 – 15:30, with unpaid lunchbreak to be taken within these hours. Term Time Only + 10 specified days. Required to start as soon as possible.

The Head Teacher and Governors are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, caring, creative, enthusiastic and experienced teaching assistant to join our dedicated team as soon as possible.

We are looking for someone who:
  • Is able to work 1:1 with children with SEND
  • Has experience of working with individuals and groups of children as well as supporting in class.
  • Has experience of working with children with a range of SEND needs.
  • Shows enthusiasm, dedication and commitment to the role and the school as a whole.
  • Has high expectations and a drive to succeed.
  • Has the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates excellent behaviour management skills
  • Is highly organised and has good time management skills
Qualifications and experience required

The successful candidate must have a Teaching Assistant qualification at Level 2, (or equivalent) and GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths, (or equivalent).

Applicants must hold a qualification that meets the approved ‘full and relevant’ criteria for Early Years qualifications and inclusion in staffing ratios.

Pay calculation
  • Term time only plus ten additional days’ pay is calculated on the basis of the following:
  • Number of ‘teaching’ weeks – 38 weeks; plus
  • Public (bank) holidays – 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus
  • Ten additional days, inclusive of CPD – 10 days; plus
  • Individual leave entitlement - 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days)

Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years’ service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years’ service will receive 32 days annual leave. For example:

Calculation for employees with less than 5 years’ service: 40 weeks (term time plus 2) + 27 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 47 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments

Calculation for employees with more than 5 years’ service: 40 weeks (term time plus 2) + 32 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 48 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments
