NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Experience within the classroom or with learning support would be an advantage but is not essential. If you are a graduate considering a career in teaching this is an ideal stepping stone to gain valuable experience.

SALARY: £24,796 FTE / £17,344 Actual Annual Salary + Benefits

LOCATION: Hedge End, Southampton, Hampshire (SO30)

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Permanent (term time only)

WORKING HOURS: 29.5 hours per week, 8.30am – 4.00pm Monday and Thursday and 8.30am – 3.00pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, term time only, 40 weeks

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Classroom Assistant within a supportive and inclusive educational environment. This role offers an excellent stepping stone for graduates looking to build experience in education and classroom support.

As a Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Classroom Assistant you will work closely with teaching and support staff to assist students with a range of additional needs, contributing positively to their learning and development across the curriculum.

The Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Classroom Assistant role requires strong communication skills, flexibility, and a calm, enthusiastic approach. You will be encouraged to work independently while also being a collaborative and valued member of the wider school community.

DUTIES
  • Classroom Support: Assisting students during lessons to help them engage with learning activities
  • Student Assistance: Providing tailored support to pupils with a variety of additional needs
  • Curriculum Support: Supporting learning across a range of curriculum subjects
  • Behaviour Support: Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting classroom management
  • Collaboration: Working closely with teaching and non-teaching staff to support student progress
  • Individual Support: Offering one-to-one or small group support where required
  • Safeguarding: Promoting the welfare and safety of all students at all times
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally
  • Literacy And Numeracy: A good standard of numeracy and literacy
  • Personal Qualities: Calm, enthusiastic, and genuinely interested in working with young people
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with staff and independently when required
DESIRABLE
  • Classroom Experience: Previous experience within an educational or classroom setting
