Job summary

East Sussex Skills Academy is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support students in KS3 and KS4 who face social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. The role is permanent, 32.5 hours per week, during 39 weeks of the year, term-time only, with a salary starting from £19,104 per annum depending on experience.

The location is Bexhill-on-Sea. The role includes opportunities for professional development, including an apprenticeship degree relevant to the position, and requires a good Level 2

Qualifications

• A good level of education to Level 2 or equivalent, including English and maths (or willingness to achieve this).
• Experience offering support, guidance, and information to diverse groups.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the unique issues affecting students.
• Excellent front-line communication skills, empathy, patience, and a calm, courteous manner under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Support students in overcoming barriers to learning and building self-esteem.
• Guide KS3 and KS4 pupils through small group work and one-to-one interventions.
• Apply positive behavioural strategies to help students reach their academic and personal potential.
