The setting provides a nurturing, structured and supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to develop academically, socially and emotionally, enabling them to achieve positive outcomes and fulfil their potential.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support and supervise pupils both in and out of the classroom, helping them engage with learning and work towards agreed educational and personal development goals.

You will contribute towards meeting the academic, social, behavioural and emotional needs of pupils while helping to create a purposeful, safe and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Assisting with learning activities and behaviour support strategies as directed by teaching staff.
  • Supporting pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and contributing to meeting their individual needs.
  • Supervising pupils during break and lunchtime periods and encouraging positive social interaction.
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to pupil progress reviews and support plans.
  • Preparing learning materials and classroom resources where required.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and external professionals.
  • Promoting safeguarding, wellbeing and a safe learning environment at all times.
  • Participating in training and professional development opportunities.
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people.
  • Has experience supporting pupils with additional needs, behavioural challenges or barriers to learning.
  • Holds GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent qualifications.
  • Is calm, patient and resilient when supporting young people with complex needs.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
  • Is able to positively manage challenging behaviour and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Works effectively as part of a team.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and access to transport.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and making a genuine difference in young people's lives.
