Job description

Teaching Assistant - Cherry Tree School

Cherry Tree School, Walsall – a rapidly growing group of independent special schools providing education and therapy to children aged 4 to 18 with complex social, emotional, mental health and learning needs.

We are seeking committed and talented professionals to support pupils with complex needs. The successful candidate will hold an enhanced DBS clearance (including children’s barred list check) and will work under the guidance of the Senior Leadership Team. We value equality, diversity and safeguarding the welfare of our children and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Support teaching and learning activities that promote inclusivity.
  • Manage pupil behaviour, including the use of physical intervention when necessary to ensure safety.
  • Provide personal care assistance to pupils as required.
  • Collaborate with teachers and specialist staff to develop and implement individualised learning plans.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the school’s continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience or training in supporting teaching and learning and/or working with children, though not essential – comprehensive training will be provided.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance with children’s barred list check.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude to thrive in a special education setting.
