Job summary

Shenley Brook End School in Milton Keynes seeks two Teaching Assistants to start ASAP on a permanent basis. You will work under the SENCo to support students with Special Educational Needs, in lessons and via 1-1 interventions. The role is 32.5 hours per week, term time plus training days, Monday–Friday 8.15am–3.15pm with a half-hour unpaid break.

Experience with young people or SEN is preferred; ASD/ADHD experience is advantageous. Apprenticeship Level 4 or 5 may be pursued after appointment.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working with young people and/or understanding of special needs.
  • Proficient IT user with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Excellent communication to inform, coach and advise others.
  • Willingness to undertake apprenticeship at levels 4 or 5 if appointed.

Responsibilities

  • Support students with SEN in lessons and deliver 1-1 interventions.
  • Work under the SENCo supervision to assist learning and wellbeing.
  • Contribute to a positive learning environment for pupils.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy and communication across tasks.

Salary: Grade 4 £25,988 - £27,254 p.a pro rata, £19,809 - £20,774 p.a actual
32.5 hours per week, term time plus training days (39 weeks per year)
Monday - Friday 8.15am - 3.15pm with a half hour unpaid break

We are looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant who will work under the direct supervision of the SENCo to support students with Special Educational Needs. Your role will include being with students in lessons and delivering intervention on a 1-1 basis. You must enjoy the challenge of working with young people and want to make a difference to their wellbeing and education.

Ideally, you will have previous experience of working with young people and/or an understanding of special needs. Experience of supporting children with ASD/ADHD would be advantageous. We welcome applicants interested in entering teaching who would like to gain experience before applying for teacher training.

  • Experience of working with young people and/or an understanding of special needs
  • Be a proficient IT user with the ability to work efficiently with a high degree of accuracy
  • Have excellent communication skills that allows you to inform, coach and advise others
  • Want to make a difference to the children in our care
