Teaching Assistant (Sports Background Desirable)

Location: Shepshed, LE12 (easily accessible from Loughborough, Leicester & Derbyshire)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:45pm (Term-Time Only)
Pay: £90 - £105 per day
Start Date: Immediate (Trial days available immediately)
Contract: Long-term to permanent

The Role

Long Term Futures are working with a brand-new, purpose-built SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Shepshed (LE12) that supports students aged 4-16. The school is looking for a Teaching Assistant who can bring energy, positivity, and a team‑player mindset to the classroom. Although this is not a sports role, a background in sport, coaching, or PE is highly desirable, as the skills gained through teamwork, motivation, and resilience are invaluable when supporting children with social, emotional, or behavioural needs.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Supporting teachers in delivering lessons and maintaining an engaging learning environment
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for students with social, emotional, or behavioural needs
  • Using your experience from sport or coaching to promote teamwork, motivation, and self‑discipline
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, confidence, and emotional regulation
  • Acting as a calm, consistent role model for students
  • Supporting with movement breaks, physical activities, or structured play when appropriate
Who We're Looking For:
  • Someone with a background or strong interest in sport, PE, coaching, or youth work
  • A patient, enthusiastic and resilient individual who can build strong relationships
  • Experience working with children or young people is desirable
  • Willingness to apply for (or already hold) an Enhanced DBS certificate
