The school and role

A school within the Bolton local authority is seeking a dedicated School Learning Support Assistant.

In this role, you will help maintain a positive and productive learning environment, including supporting the class in the teacher s absence. Strong behaviour management skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to identify tasks that support the smooth running of the classroom are essential.

You may be placed in either KS1 or KS2, so confidence in supporting learning across Maths, English, and Science at varying ability levels is required. The role will also involve some 1:1 SEND support, working closely with children throughout the school day.

We are looking for someone who is adaptable, resilient, and knowledgeable about both the primary curriculum and effective approaches to supporting pupils with SEND.

Requirements

To be considered for the Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Experience in a school, residential or other work with children and young people.
  • Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a positive role model.
  • Ability to provide empathy, being aware and responding to individuals effectively.
  • Will have recent experience working in either KS1 or KS2 or who understands the key components of both areas of primary education.
  • A constructive and positive attitude towards learning and development
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents
  • A desire to work within a school that values continuous improvement and professional growth
