Job summary

Randstad Staffing is recruiting a Teaching Assistant to join a SEN school in Horley. You will work 121 with Autistic students and help implement a personalised curriculum, supporting wellbeing and learning across curriculum areas.

The role runs Monday to Friday, 08:30am-4:15pm, during term time only. On-site training and development opportunities are provided along with a supportive team and excellent resources.

Qualifications

• Experience working with learners with SEN is valued.
• Willingness to learn and build relationships with learners.
• Confidence to support the lead in groups and in different subjects.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility in approach to education.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to the teacher according to planning
• Work 1:1 with students
• Provide group and individual activities planned by the teacher
• Develop learners' work with independent and guided tasks
• Support learners' wellbeing within the school structure
• Monitor and evaluate students' learning under teacher guidance
• Assist teachers with management strategies for a purposeful learning environment

A team of caring, charismatic SEN workers are looking for an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team. This school has some amazing facilities that you are able to use alongside the students to help them with their development! You will be working 121 with Autistic students and helping to implement a personalised curriculum.

This setting supports primary and secondary aged pupils with Autism and associated needs. The setting is based on acres of land and has incredible resources including a forest school site. This school is recognised for its calm, purposeful atmosphere where every pupil is supported to succeed. Clear routines and gentle guidance help pupils feel secure. Pupils trust the school, processes set in place and the staff who support them and as a result of this trust pupils grow in confidence and independence.

This role is needed Monday - Friday 08:30am-4:15pm. This is a term time only role.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing assistance to the teacher defined according to weekly/daily/sessional planning
• Working 1:1 with students
• Providing group and/or individual activities, planned by the teacher
• Working individually with learners/students to develop work.
• Supporting the general well being of learners within the structure of the school
• Monitoring and evaluating students learning under the guidance of the teacher
• Assisting teachers in the use of relevant management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place
• Supporting all learners in their planned structured work in all curriculum areas

Key skills and experience needed:

• The ability to work with learners that have various SEN needs
• A willingness to learn and build relationships with learners
• Confidence to support the lead in groups, in different educational subjects
• The ability to work as an individual and as a part of the team
• Flexibility in their approach to education
• Experience working in SEND settings is desirable but not essential
