Job description

The Teaching Assistant role involves supporting students, assisting the class teacher, helping maintain a productive & positive learning environment and assisting with administration. You may be required to provide ad‑hoc or dedicated 1:1 support to specific students and also to provide whole‑class support in lessons, as well as transition times, according to your skill set. You will have a high level of autonomy in your working day. The role is part of the Learning Support Department at Tiffin School, a high‑achieving boys’ selective state school with a mixed Sixth Form.

Responsibilities
  • Support individual and whole‑class students in lessons and during transition times.
  • Assist the class teacher with planning, delivery and assessment.
  • Provide administration support and recording as required.
  • Maintain a productive and positive learning environment.
  • Act as a key‑worker for high‑need students to ensure continuity of support.
  • Cohere with external agencies and maintain good relationships with parents.
  • Maintain good communication with colleagues and contribute to a team atmosphere.
Qualifications
  • Proactive and professional.

  • Proficient in English, Maths and IT skills.
  • Able to liaise effectively with students, staff, parents and external agencies.
  • Able to cope with the fast‑paced environment of academics.

  • Interest in sport would be advantageous.
