Teacher Trainer Lecturer - Broxbourne and Ware - 2 days per week - £30.70 per hour

We are recruiting for a Teacher Training Lecturer for Hertford Regional College (HRC) to deliver the full range of professional services associated with programmes of teaching, learning, assessment and student support, across the college. This is an opportunity for a passionate and experienced coach/mentor to join a team of professionals motivated to support and inspire teaching staff and drive excellence in teaching, learning and support for students – cross campus at Ware and Broxbourne, 1 or 2 days per week (0.4) until July 2026.

About The Role

The Teacher Tainer Lecturer will educate and prepare future teachers at HRC, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and understanding necessary to become effective educators. This involves delivering high-quality instruction, developing and implementing curriculum, assessing student progress, and fostering a positive learning environment.

Key role responsibilities
  • To deliver planned, coordinated, high quality teaching on appropriate subjects/units and contribute to teaching on other programmes, as agreed with the line manager. Teaching duties include the appropriate preparation, delivery and of learning materials and resources.
  • To devise appropriate Teaching, Learning and Assessment paperwork in accordance with college policy and procedure.
  • Carry out observations, including joint observations for moderation purposes, for the teacher education and training programmes.
  • To undertake regular programme and course reviews and produce action plans which feed into the self-assessment and business planning strategic process.
  • Proactively contribute to the review and development of the curriculum area and the departmental strategic plan.
  • Promote the curriculum area and participate in college events, recruitment interviews, marketing and publicity, open days, visits, internal and external competitions etc.
  • Update yourself regularly in your specialist area and participate in staff development activities as required.
  • To act as a personal tutor to a group of students providing academic/pastoral tutorial support.
  • To assist with the initial assessment, interview, admission and enrolment of students.
  • To undertake support, monitoring and advisory work associated with the teaching duties outlined above.
  • To contribute to curriculum development which will include the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of courses.
  • To carry out internal verification, standardisation and moderation through internal quality assurance procedures relating to all teacher training and assessor qualifications.

About You
  • Level 4 Assessor Qualification
  • Experience of contributing to the ongoing improvement of standards as part of strategic planning for the organization.
  • Experience of a minimum of 3 years managing cohorts with above benchmark success rates. Experience of planning, delivering and assessing for a range of levels and ages.
  • Experience of reviewing, monitoring and improving on curriculum design to deliver an inclusive and logical programme.
  • Experience providing holistic support in a flexible manner to learners.
  • Ability to communicate (oral and written) with staff at all levels throughout the college as well as external agencies, awarding bodies, HEIs, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to reinforce literacy, numeracy and digital skills to support learners' development. Knowledge of EDI in the workplace and promotion of Equal Opportunities.
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding policies and procedures and its application in the workplace. Good organisational and administrative skills including digital skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of current pedagogical practices in teaching, learning and assessment.
  • You will have an ability to engage and motivate individuals to deliver performance outcomes in further education, work based learning and higher education.
  • The ability to generate confidence, respect and trust, and act with integrity.
