Job summary

A leading educational organization in Newbury is seeking an ASD Primary Teacher to deliver personalized learning experiences for children with special educational needs. This permanent position offers a competitive salary of up to £45,000 per annum, along with a £5,000 Welcome Bonus. Qualifications

Salary and Bonus

Up to £45,000 per annum + £5,000 Welcome Bonus

Hours and Schedule

40 hours per week Monday to Friday (8:30am‑4:30pm daily, Wednesdays until 5:00pm)

Contract

Permanent Term Time Only, Start: January 2026

About the School

New Barn School, part of Acorn Education, is a specialist primary school located in Newbury that welcomes children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health complexities between the ages of 6 and 19. The school offers a broad, balanced, and relevant curriculum that includes an outdoor programme such as forest school, farm experiences and horse riding. The school benefits from the “4‑Day Working Week (4DWW)” trial, which allows staff to work one day less each week while maintaining full‑time pay (subject to successful completion of probation). Acorn Education is the UK’s leading provider of specialist education for children and young people with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver personalised, engaging and inspiring learning experiences for pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.
  • Bring learning to life by designing flexible, person‑centred programmes that support pupils academically, socially and emotionally.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs and abilities of pupils.
  • Develop and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and set meaningful learning targets.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents and carers to support each child’s development.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle (required for travel to pastoral activities).
  • A passion for working with pupils with SEN or SEMH needs.
  • Creativity, patience and a positive, hands‑on approach to teaching.
  • The ability to build strong, supportive relationships with pupils and colleagues.

4DWW is subject to successful completion of probation and is not a contractual benefit. Welcome Bonus is payable as one payment of £5,000 after completion of one year of employment.
