Job summary

Avon Valley Academy is seeking a skilled Teacher of Spanish for a maternity cover from January 2027. This part-time 0.6FTE role is ideal for an experienced teacher who promotes high attainment and supports a thriving MFL department.

The successful candidate will teach across KS3–KS4, plan engaging lessons, and collaborate with colleagues in a supportive school community in Wiltshire.

Qualifications

• Must hold QTS and be able to teach across KS3–KS4.
• Commitment to high-quality lessons and student progress.
• Willingness to contribute to extracurricular activities.

Responsibilities

• Teach Spanish to KS3–KS4 students.
• Plan and deliver high-quality lessons and sequences.
• Assess and track student progress and attainment.

Job description

Avon Valley Academy is looking to appoint a highly skilled Teacher of Spanish to join its supportive and dedicated MFL Department, on a maternity cover contract , with effect from January 2027 . This is a wonderful opportunity for an experienced teacher, who is passionate about helping every student to succeed.

Working Hours: Part-time 0.6FTE. Contract: Maternity cover (effective from January 2027)

We are a thriving, co-educational school, educating young people between the ages of 11 and 16. Located in Durrington, Wiltshire, our school has a strong reputation for being at the heart of the community and has built strong relationships with the two local army bases at Larkhill and Bulford. The successful candidate will be able to teach across the full age and ability range (Key Stage 3 – Key Stage 4) and will be a team player happy to collaborate and share ideas with other teachers within the Science Department. QTS status is essential for the role.
