Job description
About us and the role

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Physical Education teacher to join our growing school, which was graded Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted in May 2025. This role will predominantly focus on the boys’ curriculum and is suitable for both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a well-established and ambitious department. You will deliver a high-quality and inclusive PE curriculum, set clear expectations for behaviour and achievement, and create a positive environment in which students of all abilities can make strong progress.

The successful candidate will also play an active role in our extensive co-curricular programme, including our established Saturday morning provision, and will be expected to contribute fully to the wider life of the school.

We are looking for a teacher who builds strong relationships, models professionalism, and demonstrates a genuine commitment to supporting young people to develop confidence, resilience, and healthy lifestyles through sport and physical activity.

If you are dedicated to high standards and keen to develop your practice within a supportive and forward‑looking school, we would welcome your application.

School visits are welcomed and encouraged. Please contact the school to arrange a suitable time.

Interviews will take place on 27th January 2026.

What will you do?
  • Deliver the curriculum as relevant to the age and ability group/subject/s that you teach.
  • Establish a safe, purposeful and stimulating environment for pupils, rooted in mutual respect and establish a framework for discipline with a range of strategies, using praise, sanctions and rewards consistently and fairly.
  • Participate in any relevant meetings/professional development opportunities at the school, which relate to the learners, curriculum or organisation of the school including pastoral arrangements and assemblies.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers about pupils’ achievements and wellbeing using school systems/processes as appropriate.
What are we looking for?
  • QTS Qualified.
  • Able to self‑start, work independently and collaboratively as part of a team – whether led or leading.
  • Clear vision and understanding of how to implement and sustain a high‑quality teaching and learning.
  • Commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
What the school offers its staff

Avanti exists to help each person become a well‑rounded human being through intellectual, moral and spiritual growth, and so make the world a better place.

You will be working in a fantastic environment, with:

  • Great opportunities for professional development.
  • Teacher pension scheme (subject to eligibility).
  • O2 discounts, Specsavers corporate eye test vouchers.
  • Eligible for NUS Card and CSSC membership.
  • Well‑being programmes (retreats, yoga, wellness apps).
  • Cycle‑to‑work scheme.
Pre‑employment checks

Avanti Schools Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and requires all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful candidates are required to have an Enhanced DBS check unless internally appointed and still within the cycle of DBS re‑checks. Any appointment subsequently made will be subject to the receipt of satisfactory references and other pre‑employment checks.

Diversity and Inclusion

We want to make sure we are attracting the widest possible range of people and ensure that they are accepted, understood and treated equally when they work here. This means we will work hard to understand that each employee is unique and ensuring that individuals or groups are not treated differently or less favourably on the basis of specific characteristics such as age, disability, gender (including transgender), race, religion, sexual orientation, marital status, and how the school supports pregnant women and new parents.
