A local school in Taunton seeks a full-time Teacher of Performing Arts to inspire students through creative lessons in Dance and Drama. What skills and experience we're looking for
A fantastic opportunity has arisen within The Castle School, Taunton, for an ambitious and inspirational full-time Teacher of Performing Arts covering maternity leave who is passionate about providing high quality teaching and learning and has a natural flair for delivering creative and dynamic lessons to join our school from Easter 2026. A part-time 0.8FTE contract would be considered for the right candidate.
In KS3 all students have one hour of Performing Arts a week. In years 7 and 8, students have one teacher for the whole year, covering both Dance and Drama. In year 9 students carousel between Drama and Dance with a specialist teacher for both. We are seeking to appoint either a Dance or Drama specialist who has a willingness to teach in both areas at KS3.
At The Castle School you will be joining an enthusiastic andhard-workingteamthat includes Art, Drama, Dance, and Music. All students follow a varied Arts curriculum with specialist teachers through KS3, and benefit from a fantastic range ofextra-curricularopportunities including clubs and groups, music tuition, concerts, plays and musical including a major school production, a Dance showcase, VarietyShow, Community Concertand Art, Photography and Textiles exhibitions. We offer five Arts GCSE courses and two BTEC Courses and uptake at KS4 is excellent.
The Arts are valued here for the huge contribution they make to the life of the school and to the learning and wellbeing of our students. The Performing Arts department currently has three part timeteachers.
