All teaching staff at Plume Academy are expected to fulfil both an academic teaching role and a pastoral role by acting as a Tutor to a group of assigned students. This involves staff in all aspects of pastoral work, including guidance, safeguarding, monitoring and encouraging progress, contact with parents, writing reports and compiling student references. Tutors also deliver part of Plume Academy’s Personal Development Programme.
Teaching staff are encouraged to contribute to the academy’s rich extra‑curricular programme. All candidates will be provided with the opportunity to discuss their personal interests at interview. Opportunities for career progression are available via an academy‑wide coaching programme.
Annual salary for a qualified teacher will be in accordance with the Plume Academy Teacher Pay Scale, ranging from £32,916 to £51,047 for a full‑time post. Salaries are reviewed annually with national negotiation effective from 1st September. Progression through the Teacher Pay Scale is based on an annual performance review.
The successful applicant should have a good honours degree in music or a related subject and a QTS or equivalent teaching qualification. Candidates should be hardworking, enthusiastic, and committed to fostering the teaching and learning and personal development of Year 7 to 13 students. They should demonstrate an interest in new teaching and learning developments, a high level of integrity, and evidence of excellent value‑added achievement and high retention levels where applicable.
All appointments are subject to satisfactory DBS and immigration checks, demonstration of ability, and receipt of references. The academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.
