Job summary

Landau Forte Academy QEMS Tamworth seeks an ambitious, well-qualified Mathematics teacher to join a thriving academy. You will benefit from a comprehensive CPD programme, a supportive environment, and a commitment to staff wellbeing and career development.

We offer a 40.75-hour week, 52 weeks per year, permanent contract, and a start date in January 2027. Salary is on the M/UPS scale with a meal allowance and generous pension options; visits are encouraged via the Principal’s PA.

Qualifications

  • A graduate with qualified teacher status
  • Formal qualifications or relevant experience to meet the appointment challenge

Responsibilities

  • Ensure teaching, learning and assessment meet learners' needs and align with curriculum maps and syllabuses
  • Provide direction for student learning within your remit and support extension activities
  • Set high standards and support staff and students with guidance and recognition
  • Prepare, plan and deliver departmental learning programmes with flexible online and offline approaches
  • Set challenging attainment targets and monitor progress against targets and benchmarks
  • Evaluate attainment against Academy targets and national benchmarks

Landau Forte Academy Tamworth Sixth Form & QEMS are popular and heavily oversubscribed academies in Tamworth. QEMS was judged as GOOD by Ofsted in September 2022. Tamworth Sixth Form was judged as GOOD with OUTSTANDING features in November 2024. You will be supported in your career through our extensive CPD programme including the opportunity to complete nationally recognised qualifications. Job description

Ensure that teaching, learning and assessment meets the needs of learners, impacting positively upon student attainment and achievement; that it fulfils as appropriate the demands and requirements of the published Academy curriculum maps, tutor guides and student guides, and external examination syllabuses

Provide overall direction for student learning within your remit, ensuring that provision is made for students of all abilities, that they are effectively taught and that learning and achievement are evident. Work with other staff in contributing to the total learning of students including extension and enrichment activities

Set and maintain high standards, expectations and aspirations for both staff and students, ensuring that they are treated with dignity and respect and that they receive appropriate guidance, support and recognition

Ensure the preparation, planning and delivery of the agreed departmental learning programmes, utilising flexible approaches to learning including the application of online learning.

Ensure that appropriate, challenging attainment targets are set and used with all students and monitor their performance in terms of attainment, achievement (both quantifiable value added measures and broader qualitative achievements) and progress in respect of the outcomes from learning programmes and activities.

Evaluate classes’ levels of attainment and achievement against both Academy targets and nationally recognised benchmarks.

Landau Forte Academy QEMS and Tamworth Sixth Form

Landau Forte Academy QEMS joined the Landau Forte Charitable Trust in September 2011 and delivers education to 11-16 year olds. Landau Forte Academy Sixth Form is a purpose-built establishment providing Level 3 courses, both Advanced Level and Applied qualifications, for the whole of Tamworth and beyond. The academies are located on a shared campus, but both operate from their own facilities. Both QEMS and Tamworth Sixth Form are oversubscribed.
