Job summary

The County High School Leftwich is seeking an inspiring Teacher of Geography on a fixed-term, maternity-cover basis for 1 year. The role is 0.6 FTE (3 days per week) and involves planning, delivering the Geography curriculum, and contributing to departmental work.

Salary: (MPS 1 - UPS 3) £32,916 - £51,048 (FTE Salary) / £19,749 - £30,628 (Actual Salary)

Contract type: Fixed Term, Maternity Cover - Part time - 0.6 FTE (3 days per week)

This role is based at The County High School, Leftwich, which is a high performing, fully inclusive, co-educational, 11-16 school with approximately 1050 students, 60 teaching and 60 support staff. About the Role

We are looking for an inspiring and dedicated Teacher of Geography to join our thriving, hardworking science team at The County High School Leftwich on a temporary, 1-year fixed term, basis.

You will be responsible for effective planning and implementation of the curriculum, ensuring quality first teaching, monitoring assessments, recording and reporting. You will also perform the role of form tutor, if designated as such.

The geography department currently consists of two full-time members of staff and one part-time member of staff. The department is supported by another member of the Humanities staff team, a non-specialist member of staff, also. All classrooms have widescreen touch-screen monitors.

At Key Stage 3 students follow topics of study laid out in the Key Stage 3 National Curriculum, moving onto the AQA Geography syllabus at Key Stage 4, studying the optional topic areas of Coastal Landscapes, River Landscapes, Hot Deserts and Food.

Geography is a successful subject among students that has a large uptake at GCSE with a proven record of achieving positive progress against target grades. You would be joining a supportive department that has nurtured staff to enable them to develop their professional qualities over time and be able to progress their careers.
