We currently have an exciting opportunity for Teacher of Design and Food Technology to join our fantastic team at Manchester Enterprise Academy (MEA)
This is a permanent, full-time teaching post, the salary for this post is MPS/UPS. We would welcome applicants from experienced teaching positions or current trainees who will qualify in June 2025, for a July or September 2025 start.
You will need to be qualified to teach and work in the UK with successful experience in the 11-16 phase. You will need to have thorough subject knowledge and an understanding of current curriculum developments, you will also be a good communicator, with the ability to develop effective working relationships.
You will have the ability to deliver quality teaching that drives achievement and inspires a love of learning. You will be able to demonstrate experience of achieving positive outcomes for pupils, as well as being passionate about making a difference to the lives of young people. As a committed team player, you will have excellent organisational skills and the natural ability to motivate both pupils and peers.
Main purpose of the job:
As a teacher of Design and Food Technology, we are looking for someone with a solid foundation in both the theoretical and practical aspects of the subject. This includes a strong understanding of areas like nutrition, food science, product design, sustainability, and the use of relevant tools, materials, and technologies such as CAD/CAM and kitchen equipment. They should be capable of delivering engaging, hands-on lessons that inspire creativity while maintaining a strong focus on safety, precision, and real-world application.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate a clear grasp of the curriculum and how to tailor lessons to suit a wide range of learning abilities and styles. They need to be organised, reliable, and able to assess student work fairly and constructively. Just as important is the ability to manage a dynamic classroom where students are often engaged in practical tasks that require close supervision and clear instruction.
