Teacher of English (Maternity Cover) Commencing 23rd February 2026. Derby High School is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated and inspiring temporary Teacher of English (0.8 or Full Time) to cover maternity leave, to join our vibrant and talented team of subject specialists within the English and Drama Faculty. We are looking for a passionate educator with a deep commitment to teaching and learning, who is eager to inspire and nurture both students and colleagues alike. ECTs are very welcome to apply. Department

The English and Drama department is a friendly, supportive and hard‑working team who deliver an inspiring and engaging curriculum from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5. At GCSE the IGCSE specifications are followed for English Literature and English Language and at A Level we follow the OCR English Language and Literature specification. In Year 7 students are taught English in mixed‑ability form groups, from Year 8 through to GCSE students are taught according to ability. Drama is taught in Key Stage 3, with the AQA specification followed at both GCSE and A Level. Our school offers a warm and supportive atmosphere, where relationships are at the heart of our practice. Derby High School is an independent HMC co‑educational day school educating 673 pupils between the ages of 3 to 18, in our purpose‑built buildings in the leafy suburb of Littleover in Derby. Derby High School was awarded the highest possible 'Excellent' rating following a full inspection from the Independent Schools Inspectorate in January 2023.
