About this Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a part‑time, temporary (maternity cover) Teacher of English. The team is a dynamic and hardworking group of teachers committed to high standards of teaching and learning and to supporting each student.

The person appointed will receive considerable support and will join a successful, enthusiastic faculty keen to share ideas and uphold the principle of mutual professional support.

Classes are taught in mixed‑ability groupings. Our aim is to allow all students to access the curriculum in a range of ways that develop them into effective communicators through engagement with reading, writing and oracy practices. A significant focus is on developing students' enjoyment of reading, encouraging discussion and demonstrating how to read for pleasure at home.

A new member of the team who is willing to share ideas and contribute to exciting initiatives would be a welcome addition.

Potential candidates are encouraged to visit the school; if you wish to do so please contact our HR team.

Full information about the job role is detailed in the attached job information book. For further discussion, please contact Peter Smith, Headteacher, or Alice Silvester, Head of Faculty.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. DBS checks are required for all posts.

We are proud to be part of East Anglian Schools Trust (EAST) alongside Bungay High School, Holbrook Academy, Kesgrave High School, Castle EAST School, EAST SCITT and six primary schools (Aldeburgh, Wickham Market, Easton, Leiston, Kyson and Saxmundham) with whom we work closely.
